Should I get a T2 SE or LTD or Gold Bug Pro or ?

Hi all. I am a newbie and am looking at getting my first detector. I am primarily interested in looking for gold. Nuggets, and jewelry. I believe the ground in my area has moderately high mineralization. I'm in Albuquerque, NM. For jewelry I would be searching parks, tot lots, and such. For nuggets, mountains. I'm thinking either a Gold Bug Pro or a T2 SE would suit my needs best. If anyone has another suggestion, I'm all ears. From what I can gather, the Gold Bug Pro is more sensitive to smaller gold but doesn't go as deep. It's also quieter and may be easier to operate for a beginner. The T2 SE doesn't find gold as small, but is capable of much deeper finds. It's also noisier and requires a bit of time to get to know the machine. How much deeper will the T2 SE get me over the Gold Bug Pro? What would I be loosing in the way of size by going with the T2 SE? I'll probably be hunting jewelry more than prospecting, I'm guessing. I don't know how deep jewelry is usually found or what the size usually is. Probably varies. I'm thinking a more sensitive unit for prospecting would be desired. I know there is no perfect do it all machine, and I would probably like to have both, but, I'm only getting one for now. Any input, or suggestions that would help me in my decision making, would be appreciated. Thanks.

if it wear me and i had one md i would go with the t2 se it will be better all around and i have read that the g2 is better than the gold bug i had a g2 it runs smouth more so than the t2 if i was going to hunt the gold fields most of the time i would go with g2 cant go rong eather way ..ps the g2 is good on depth

Thanks razerback408. I believe the G2 and the Gold Bug Pro are the same units with different packaging and different coils.

The T2 will suit your needs best even though the Gold Bug Pro (G2) might edge it out in the gold fields. The tones on the T2 are nice to have and it is deeper.

Thanks. Am I right in thinking the F75 would give me pretty much the same results as the T2? The difference being the F75 might have more features.

It might. From what I understand, the T2 has a higher iron range. How that'll come into play, I don't know.

i have owned both the t2se and f75se and currently have a f75se both are great machines and both have a very good all metal mode that will work for prospecting the f75 has more tone options in boost mode and a backlight display and also keeps the settings from the last time you use it and costs a few hundred more you should read Steve's Guide to Gold Nugget Detectors here http://www.detectorprospector.com/gold-prospecting-guides/steve-guide-gold-nugget-detectors.htm also some good reading on the prospecting forum on this site gl hh

Thanks ez4sure. I still am a little confused on F75 vs T2 for gold. Some sites and posts indicate the F75 being 300% more sensitive to small gold while others recommend the T2 for gold prospecting. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Seems contradictory. Maybe the T2 because of it's iron working ability even though F75 is more sensitive? Or maybe what I've read isn't necessarily correct?

They're, essentially, the same machine. The F75 has more bells. As far as I know, both should work the same. Maybe DaveJ or someone will weigh in.

As a newbie there are two factors not yet addressed. Cost and learning curve. GBP/G2 is very easy to learn and nearly half the price. T2/F75 offers loads of optional settings that can be confusing until you log quite a few hours and also provides information it takes awhile to make sense of. You will do better sooner with a GBP/G2 and you may discover you need something different or don't like MDing you can sell it with less net loss. If you are not very patient or lack buddies who can teach you how to use the unit, simple is a huge plus. An advanced hunter can do more with an advanced unit, but I found that matching experience to complexity makes sense.
