Should I keep it or sell it?

I wanted to try an explorer so I looked around and got a REAL GOOD deal on a new Explorer SE Pro. After receiving it I do not know if I want to keep it or not. If I start using it and don't like it I know I will have lost quite a bit of money because if I decided to sell it it would now be considered used. I could sell it now (Still in box) for a pretty good profit. I currently have a CZ3D and plan to keep this no matter what. I am thinking that even this detector (explorer) will have a hard time topping the 3D in depth and target id. Has anyone tried both detectors? How do they compare?

I know from reading and not that I have a FIscher that those used to their machine and for that matter those used to their own brand feel very comfortable with it and you can use it quite well as they have experience with it. You haven't even tried this machine yet and already you are giving up on it. You have to get out there and use the SE Pro. The CZ3d is a dual frequency machine, the SE has 28 frequencies in comparison. It is not uncommon to hit targets over 10" in the ground. I have done it many times. The SE is deep and its ID is legendary. It has more bells & whistles for an interface than you will be used to on your machine. The sounds from the SE will sound like a maniac compared to your ole machine. Once you get some field time in your pocket and get used to those sounds you will find you have a powerful weapon for hunting and that the CZ3D will be your backup machine. The CZ3D is a good machine but the SE is a little better and that's why you pay more for it. Did you get a warranty on the SE you bought? The warranties are non transferable unless you bought it new. New ones get standard 2 year plus an extra 2 year extended. Too bad MD didn't have lifetime like Tesoro. I"ll give that company credit where credit is due. Good price, good MD, lifetime warranty.

Most people I know here who have Minelab MD like the E-TRAC,SE,Explorer II, GT utilize them because they perform better than all the other MD. Those who water hunt use the Excalibur 1000 for the same reason. It's performance is legendary.

You take your SE Pro. Go to those spots you have hunted to death with the CZ and I guarantee you you will find coins that the CZ didn't pick up. Do me a favor. Go somewhere and take both with you and run em both over the same areas and you'll be a believer. Slow down your swing with the SE as opposed to the CZ. You'll find that out quickly. There's a little bit of a lag as it's processing a lot of info and ML didn't put in a fast enough processor to assist in this function of the SE.

The Minelabs are not just hype, they perform as you will see once you start swinging the Pro coil for a while in the field.

I have used both but I must say that I've had explorers for a long time. That would make learning a new machine like you're talking, very hard without trying to compare machines. All I can tell you is you have a great machine now. And, the Explorer is a Great machine. The Explorer offers more and better options. Is very deep. As deep or deeper than any comparable machine on the market.
I found a Large cent on a pounded lawn in town the first day I tried the CZ3D.
Bottom line is, if you have that new machine and you haven't tried it yet, you're made of stone. Give it a try and soe time and your 3D will gather dust.

Yes I got it brand new with the extra 2 year warranty.....

I am leaning towards keeping it. I just wanted some opinions on what others thought. I see people like Bryce_il just tearing it up with his. I know that the silver has to be there in the first place to find it.....I may just have to go out and give it a good workout tomorrow. What the heck.

Bill...I've had the CZ3D and most of the original Fisher line of detectors. They are really good units...easy to use...go deep and built like a tank. I can sympathize with you in just wanting to stick with your CZ3D and saving those bucks. But, you've purchased a really good unit with the Explorer Se Pro and you might ought to at least go with your first statement and give it a try. The Explorer series have a very good resale value if you find it isn't for you.

Like I said...I've had the CZ3D...but now I own an Explorer SE. I've previously owned 2 Explorer XS's and one Explorer II. They have all found me some deep silver. As a matter of fact, that was the very reason I got my first Explorer...because they seem to have an affinity for silver. Look at all the different metal detecting brand forum sites and you will see the Explorer forum having silver coin finds almost every day. That's what turned me on to the Explorers. It took a little more time to learn the Explorer over most of the other brands I have used...but it's worth it to me. Over time I have gained a committed faith that the Explorer will find more deep silver that the other brands just could not see. Yes, it's a bit heavy but it gives you so much more info...not just segmented columns like the CZ series.

I recommend that you give your SE a try. I think you will find that your CZ3D will soon become your back-up unit.

That's my take...hope it helps you to make the right choice. HH

Make sure you fill out the warranty card & ESP card pronto and send it in to eligible. They say within 14 days on the card to qualify.
