In the beach forum here, someone asked me to post my scoop carrying/dragging hookup and I thought it might be helpful to our newer Safari users to see how each of us carries his/her gear. Heck, I bet if we all post how we do things, everyone can get some new ideas. So in that spirit, here's how I suit up to go huntin'.

These are my 2 beach scoops. The older, smaller one is a cheapie I bought to serve as a 'learner' until I could decide what I wanted in a good scoop. It has actually served me very well and I have dug down over 3' in dry sand with it. But it is wearing out rapidly, so it is now relegated to my backup scoop. I haven't yet gotten my new (the bigun in the pic) Stealth scoop dirty yet, except for testing my drag system out in the backyard. Note that I do not hunt water any deeper than ankle deep and that very rarely. When I get my Excal that will change.

Here's my belt with the new tool attachment point on it. The blue ball/loop thingy is something I just got to keep the heavier Stealth scoop from pulling my arm out of my shoulder socket as I drag my scoop down the beach.

Heres a close-up of my belt. The camo pouch is a trash bag; I also always keep a couple of good ziplock bags in it in a side pouch in case I need to waterproof something. The black pouch is my new trowel carrier- haven't actually used it yet. I intend to modify it a bit too.

If you don't have a preference, try out Tinypic.com picture hosting site. Its totally free and easy to use. When the site asks for security code verification, if its a video, just click the refresh circular arrow until a code word comes up. That's much less irritating than watching some stupid ad.

How about it folks? Lets see your gear!

Great topic, KinTN! Heres my rig, its a '97 subaru with 240k on it, its full of cancer, not a chick magnet, dirty as hell, smokes, smells awful, cheap, but it fires right up, is good on gas, and goes anywhere! Its a lot like ME in these regards! I traded my redwood paddleboard I built for it last winter, and took out the rear seat. I carry everything in it for detecting, and the kayak sort of thing on top I built out of epoxy and 1/4 ply...it has a large open cockpit, weighs 28lbs, and I can toss in all my gear and go to places inaccessible by land. Plus, its a conversation starter with a lot of folks...The scoop I made out of an aluminum ice scoop, it works great! I dovetailed and keyholed all the parts together so it sort of locks itself together nicely since the alumaweld I used as long since broken...I might take out the front seat in the Sube and build myself a nice little sleeping area someday...

I have long admired that ice cream scoop of yours, mp!

You might as well get prepared to carry that Stealth. I know I have one but they do get the job done. Gravedigger Max has a rig for scoops that works alright you may want to check his out. I just haven't found a good way so I just carry mine. RTG's are a lot lighter but that Stealth works better in the mud and rocks. Good luck and HH :minelab:
