Silver and Platinum!!! :super:

Met up with Sythnut and we hit my local park over here. Ive pulled allot of silver out this year. more so that the past. We both hit a few areas and i came out with a couple of silver and some Wheaties. Since the finds were far and few between we decided to hit the beach for awhile. I figured this would be the best way for Sythnut to learn his machine.

He stayed in the dry while i hit the lane. Things were bleak for both of us as we met up later. He complained about nothing but pull tabs as were walking on the dry back to the car. Walking back he stops to check a target. I asked him "what is it"? "Just another pull tab" and he walked away swinging without digging it. I told him to dig all pull tabs because that's where gold is. Walked over and checked it. 12-15 solid and about 6". scooped it and low and behold a ring!!! I called him over and said "your going to be pissed". First thought was whit gold. nope Platinum ! The look on his face was priceless as well as the lesson learned.

I probably overestimated...does the hallmark give any indicator of purity like "750" or anything?

From what Ive been told. Platinum doesn't need to be an alloy like gold for jewelry. In turn all Plat jewelry is pure.

Don't forget that Troy Oz (for metals) and Avoirdupois Oz's (foods, etc) are different.

1 Troy Oz = 31.1 grams
1 Avoirdupois Oz = 28.35 grams

1 Troy Lb is made of 12 Troy Ounces or 373.2 grams
1 Avoirdupois Lb is made of 16 Avoirdupois Ounces or 453.6 grams
Spot Price for Friday 9th on Platinum = $1721 US
Melt price at your local precious metal / Check cashing place? ( )

If I read the scale correctly, it shows 11 grams. 1 Troy oz = 31.1 grams. 1 Troy oz = $1721. $1721 / 31.1 grams = $55.3376206 /gm. 11 gm X $55.3376206 gm = $608.71. :jump:

Ouch - Sorry for your buddy. Expensive lesson. :stretcher:

Congrats to you !

Oh, my God! You taught him a lesson he surely will NEVER forget.

YUP ....I'm the Dumb A_ _ that didn't listen to EZ .... Lesson SURELY learned here !!......I had probably 30 or so Pull Tabs that I had just dug and had a few that went down over a foot in the sand that I pulled out at number 15 on my Safari .... I was hitting Pennies all day, but did manage to pull a Rosie and a Quarter .....I was tired, and it was at the end of the day, and we were heading back to the truck and swinging on our way back ... This was my first beach hunt ..... When I hit the famous number 15 on the way in , I checked it , and then continued and EZ asked what it was .....I told him another Pull Tab ....He said " DIG IT " ....I told him I was tired of digging pull tabs and that he could have my last pull tab ....He went back and I pointed out the area , and he took one scoop as he had a big sand scoop ....One scoop and I just walked toward the car and that's when he said " You're gonna be PI _ _ _D !! " ......When I saw that ring I felt like crying !!!....... My own fault !!!..... EZ has helped me along the way, and has given me TONS of gear to get started and has given me some really valuable information on how to hunt and what to look for ...... He's really done me good all along the way, so I don't feel all that badly that he was the one with the ring ....I'm glad it was him and not someone else ..... Karma you know !!!..... It really couldn't have gone to a better friend ..... All was not lost , and maybe a lot more was gained !!...... Still a great day hunting !!....Jim

EZ. I was going to suggest you have fun with him and spread out about a dozen pull tabs in his yard, but now that synthnut's watching this forum it ......nah! do it anyway!!:crazy:

When I use my ET at the beach, maybe 25% of the time, I dig all 12's and it does get old when you find your 50th PT of the day, but thanks for the reminder! One .900 or .950 plat ring makes up for a whole lot of PT's (I guess as I am still looking for my first Platinum ring!) Terry in San Diego

Go ahead ....Kick a guy when he's down !!.....I'lll come out of this stronger than ever !!..... I'll have a whole jewelry store full of rings by this time next year !!!...... :yo:
