Silver Bracelet or ??????

Bill M

New member
I hunted an area for over 2 hours this morning and had so few signals I thought my machine was busted. All I heard was threshold hum. Dug anything and everything, 8 targets total. Was about to leave and I got a signal that produced this silver piece of a bracelet (I think), about 5-6 inches deep. Looks military??? If anyone has a clue to what it might be it would be helpful. Cool find anyway! Just don't know what it is.

Beautiful pieces. And it does appear to be part of a bracelet. I say "part" of the bracelet because, due to the size, I would imagine that there is at least one piece missing. Maybe another piece with the V, and possibly the clasp to connect them all together. It reminds me of a hunt I had about 30 years ago, at an old fairground. I dug what I thought was a decorative Sterling lady's belt buckle with a copper inlay of a Bird of Paradise. I was tickled to have found it. About 4 or 5 steps later, I dug two more of the same item, and realized it must be part of a bracelet. As luck would have it, another 10 feet away I dug the fourth (and what I surmise is) the final piece of the "puzzle". That last piece had the clasp that fastened the others together. I'd suggest that you go back to the site and scan the area very carefully. You never know, if there hasn't been a lot of other detectorists in there, you might just find the missing link! Nice find.

That seems pretty interesting. The 'V' was a common emblem used during WWII to symbolize Victory (made famous by Winston Churchill giving the two finger victory sign, which looks like th later 'peace' sign). So a guess might be WWII era at least.

Nice find Bill. Sorry it tooks so long to nab it, but we've all had those moments too!

Very cool and nice details. I'd say it would be worth another trip--maybe hit the area from a different direction. Thanks for the story and pictures. Best of luck to you if you go back there.

I found one of those links - the one with the great seal. Thought it was a small shoe buckle - now I know better!

Nice find!
