I had to take the past couple of months off from detecting, had to much going on and was getting discouraged from my lack of silver finds which I had not found since July anyway. I finished mowing the lawn around 6pm and grabbed the Explorer with the 8" Sun Ray coil and went to my favorite old park. It was getting dark soon so I went right to a spot that I have pounded and has continued to give up some old coins. Only a few minutes into the hunt I got a broken hi-tone, and it was bouncing. Down around 6 inches I found a really nice '44 Merc. It was getting dark fast, so kept going. A couple minutes later another hi-tone a few feet away I thought I had another silver but turned out to be a '46 Wheat. And this is a spot I have POUNDED with my CZ's and V3. After about a hour and a half I started working my way back to the truck and to another spot that has produced a number of good finds. This spot very heavily trashy. Lots of pull tabs and iron. I managed to get a broken up hi-tone amid all the junk and found a '24 Merc 5 inches down. As noted earlier, I was using the X-8 coil and the thing really helps in the trashy areas. I am going to try to get back there tomorrow with my X-5 coil and see if I can snag some more goodies that everybody else is missing among the junk. I know its not much, but for me 2 silvers especially Mercs is a great night and rare for me. Sorry for the poor pics. Thanks for looking.
