I got back to the ole swimming hole and spent all day... I will be back tomorrow bright and early. I don't think it has ever been hunted. Weeds are thick but the targets are everywhere. My arms are sore but my pockets where full  Some of the targets are so old they actually fall apart as you dig them out. Just check out that ring in the center. The big ring I need to take it and have it checked out. It is set in 18k and the stone is huge. Hopefully it's something good. Can't date some of the coins I found in the water. But one is a barber dime looks like 1904 but not sure and a couple of mercurys. The ones I find on land are just fine. The other ring is bent pretty bad. I tried to straighten it out and a couple stones fell out of it. Looks like a decent ring too bad its damaged. Think the one smaller coin is a token? Well I'm sore and wore out so off to bed cyas...<p>

it looks like tanzanite pretty pricey stuff, Also, related to color, many people are astounded by the seeming glow of fine tanzanite under natural diffuse light. This is due to the fact that tanzanite is pleochroic, which simply refers to the property possessed by tanzanite of exhibiting different colors when viewed along different axes. In tanzanite's case we see blue, violet, and red. It is no wonder why tanzanite has its appeal in the market today.
good luck tomarrow

Those are some old gold rings your finding.I don't believe the big stone is Tanzanite,Could be be a fake Alexandrite (very popular back in the day)but is most likely Spinel and is a great find.Had a spot that produced the crumbling rotted silver,be careful recovering the old silver rings. Some of the old silver will have nice gemstones and if the ring crumbles you might lose the stones.Hope to see more finds from there in the future

Well I took the ring to get it identified. The 1st place told me it was a amethyst about 20 Ct's. But could only guess without taking it out of the setting. The next place told me it was a color changing garnet. The last place told me it was a simulated Alexandrite. But would need to take it out of the setting to weight it. So now I am more confused than anything. I guess I need to get it to someone who can positively ID it. Everyone told me it was a very old and in a excellent setting and very nice cut. But the difference in opinion was kind of strange. Oh and all of them asked me if it was for sale

If they are ALL asking if it's for sale, I'd suspect that it is the more valuable of possible stones...I have a book here someplace & I'll see if I can locate it...It is very detailed in being able to ID stones & I remember seeing Tanzanite in there, but I'm not sure where it is right now...I haven't seen it in about 15 yrs...TT
