[size=medium]Ok folks, need a bit of insight here. I found these two rings with the Deus in the last two days. I don't know if you need my settings other than I use normalized id, 18 kHz numbers. The rings both came in at 83. One is marked 925 china and the other has no marks. I've tested some other silver rings but the numbers are higher. Has anybody found any silver rings at 83 or is it possible that the rings are not silver? Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.[/size]

"83" in 18 khz is indeed a little low for silver, however stranger finds have been made that turned out to be sterling, and vice versa. I would think the smaller lapis lazuli-esque ring would have a better chance at being sterling.

It's probably silver. The thinner the ring the lower the number tends to be at least with the etrac. A silver ring will usually run in the 12- mid 40's but I 've dug a number down to 12 - 33. I don't think it would be any different with the Deus. The only silver I have recovered with the Deus was a silver ring that was broken and incomplete so it was more like a piece of silver wire and I don't remember what the readings were.

I have found silver rings to come in at the 80s
This is the main method that we use when checking anything that looks like silver over here in the UK,trust me it works very well,its a simple test but the smell of rotten egss will tell you that its the real deal or not.
The easiest test for silver is the spit test. Spit on the coin or item and immediately wrap it in alumimium foil for 10 seconds
When you unwrap it you will smell rotten eggs - hydrogen sulphide because most silver has a little tarnish on it which is silver sulphide!!!!!
