Silver Program

Hi

Whih numbers to people use for their silver program, please?

It depends. Most mainstream US silver comes in at a conductivity of CO42 and above. Some older, smaller silver, especially in Europe, will come in lower, sometimes much lower. If you set up a pattern that only accepts conductivity values of, say (1, 40) to (27, 49) you might get lucky and cherry pick a coin or two in a good location. The problem is getting a null with these settings...use a small coil and go slow if you try it. There is some see-through possible using this type of restricted pattern; I've had accepted targets break through the null even if it was the weaker signal (go Minelab!). But, it is generally advisable to relax the discrimination to allow more threshold time and deeper depth. Check out Andy's coin program...generally accepted to be the best all-around coin pattern for the US...

There is a TID list for mainstream US coins here...

very kind thank you. I've found this ground with loads of signals but impossible to dig through since it is so compacted

Both. I've created a program that is 44-49 from 01 to 25

Some tin cans fall into this range so I will judge it via sizing and depth butat least I won't get so many signals....obviously will lose gold

What do you reckon?

Starting at 44 will lose some silver dollars and some wheats...minimum is 42 and 40 is preferable, although screwcaps can come in at 38 - 43 and are a pain if you're in wino country. Pinpointing is, of course, a main tool at your disposal. As said, a pattern like this may get lucky every once in a while, but you will lose depth and have a hard time getting a threshold in trashy areas. For the trash, use a small coil and go very slowly. For the hard ground, use a Rigid 4" trenching shovel (or something similar) and/or a pick (or wait for wet ground).

Gold rings can come in up to around CO 35, so, yes, you would miss all gold...unless it was a gold bar or something.

Thanks. Your site got me into the E-trac.

Would I lose depth?

This is a heavy Disc pattern i made. I put in some allowance for bounce and put nickles in. Its OK if you don't have much time and want to cover an area quickly. But because of the high Disc you will leave targets behind.
