Silver ring and marble

Mcdetect

Active member
Hunted a beach area today and scored a silver ring and a nice marble. The ring is not marked 925...but is marked "FF"?. But it had that silver look coming out of the dirt (you know what I mean...blotchy black tarnish with silver glimmers shining through) and it cleaned up like silver. Pics are after a quick cleaning. The ring's inscription reads...never never never give up.

Nice find!! Cant tell exactly from the photo but could the ring be fashioned from a silverware stem?? Aka, spoon art???

I remember those and actually had one at some point. This one is smaller than a spoon ring though. The only thing that has me scratching my head on this one is the lack of the 925 stamp. I'm like 99.9% sure it's silver. I don't have a test kit, but I've found enough silver items that were marked to be able to recognize it regardless of the stamp. I guess I'll have to get a test kit. I've got a few other unmarked items that I suspect are silver that I could test too.

The funny part of that story is I was trying out a new area that had VERY FEW signals and was really about to give up and BAM...out pops the ring. Unfortunately I didn't find any other goodies in the area (other than the marble).
