silver ring and some other stuff today...

Went out for a few hours this morning to a couple of old parks. Found the inner part of an old pocket watch (don't think it's silver) -- it's missing the lid, the face, and the piece that snaps on the back to cover the gears; also found the reeds from an old harmonica, a "Pozzoni's" tin which I think used to hold face powder -- it's either copper or brass. The box is pretty smashed, but the lid is in decent shape. I attached a pic of what one looks like when it's in nicer shape than mine! I also found a nice men's silver ring, see pic. below. It says SN .925 on it, and has a little "maker's mark" on it -- a circle with what looks like a "c" in it -- but the bottom loop of the "c" has a straight line hanging down from it. Not sure who that represents; it almost looks like the "circle - c" which is used to mean "copyright" -- except for that straight line hanging down from the bottom of the "c."

Anyway -- found a bunch of other junk and some clad; it was a pretty interesting hunt with a variety of things.

The little tin is cool.

Nice ring!

Bob --

Absolutely thought it was a quarter. 00 29 consistent on the digital screen.

Matter of fact, funny story, I hooked up with Curtis ("curtis n" on this forum) for the first time, to see if I could help him out at all with understanding his SE Pro. I told him I'd mark a few targets, and then he could swing his machine over them and we could talk about it before we dug. I marked that ring, (thinking it was a good example of a quarter!) and after marking a few more targets, I called him over to check them out. This was the first one we checked -- and I told him it was a quarter; he agreed. We were both surprised when the ring showed up in the plug -- first plug we dug! :) No way could I repeat THAT again... :)
