Silver Sabre lower pole

New member
I just found the upper part of a Silver Sabre (original model) including upper rod with arm brace and the control box. It seems in very good condition but It is missing the lower pole and coil. I see that Tesoro sells a lower pole for $12 but is this only for the current models or would it fit my SS?

Seems like the current Tesoros have 3 piece rods and the older ones have two-piece type? I'm not sure but the upper rod on my SS extends to about 1 foot off the ground so I only need a short rod from there to the coil.

Anyone know if the one Tesoro sells will work?

You can use a standard lower rod and coil bolt and cut it down to length.
And use a newer coil. If your using an older coil you will have to drill the coil bolt holes a bit bigger to work with the newer larger rods.----not a big deal.

If I cut the pole down how will I attach it to the upper pole?

guess here as never held a SS but would have to drill 2 holes in the lower pole and move the spring button thingy (yes that is the technical term) in to the new holes .

on the lower pole there is.

You shorten the lower rod if needed. Then drill two new holes for the spring clip.

There is no spring clip on the upper pole and if I shorten the lower pole I will be cutting off the spring clip, no?

Or, do you mean that I should shorten the lower pole by cutting out a section from its middle and then re-attaching its two parts back together somehow?

cut the black lower pole to the length you want it then take the spring out of the bit you cut off, then drill the new pole same as the bit that's been cut off and put the spring in there.

not sure how else to word it.
