5:30a and not even yet good hunting light with the days beginning to get shorter, found me trekking about 300 yards down towards one end of a field with my LTD in tow. As fate would have it, there wasn't much foot traffic around this morning so was able to get almost 4 hours of swinging before I began to wilt. In the meantime, I was able to dig 4 decent targets, which included the 45d Merc and the 34 Washington quarter. The IH is a 1906 and if I was forced to guess on the Buffalo nickel, I would guess 1916, but wouldn't bet the ranch on it. It is pretty rough. Both the IH and buffalo had some depth, 7-8" and on the buffalo in particular, I didn't have a clue it was a nickel. Numbers were all over the place, but getting mostly high tone audio and with its depth I decided to chisel my way down to it. The IH was bouncing all the way through the 70's, but sounded good and was repeatable. In fact, the only coin that was pretty much a lock was the Washington quarter. It was only 4."
