Nice job on the silvers again! The wheat may have been coated with something at one time or another....I've found so many over the years that have been chromed, painted, glued, encased to wear as a pendant, etc...I'm not familiar with any motivation for it. The important thing is you got out and racked up more silver!

That could be a steel wheat penny

I think those were only minted in 1943. I haven't found one of those in a looong time!

Nice hunting there! :clapping:

I found a strange wheat last week too..it looked like steel, but was the wrong date...I tried a magnet on it and it was not steel...just a unusual appearance..
Mud

Good job !

Could be some kind of mint set proof coins or such that were broke apart as a set and spent and lost. I have a set for my birth date year given to me by my parents on my 50th birthday a few years ago. Half Dollar, quarter, dime, nickel, penny all 1958.
