Simplex underwater with wireless headphones and antenna?

Has anyone tried attaching an antenna(coaxial cable) like the Deus uses to the control unit of the Simplex while it is underwater and see if the signal will be picked up by the wireless headphones? The antenna would of course have to be out of the water. It seems like in theory that it would work, but I don't know. Have never seen a post about this. Thanks

Hi pine, how would you attach the cable to the control box? I think it would need a head phone plug on one end, but it would need to be water proof. Good idea if it works, don't loose your detector trying it.

I would think simply running a wire upward using the simply process of Induction would suffice, and wrap the bottom of the wire into a coil and position it over the box. You are talking about a very short distance too so not much energy needs to be excited into the wire/coil for it to be energized with the transmitter’s signal. (remember the crystal radios powered by the radio signal not a battery?)
