Simplex

Mine were so loud I had to turn the volume down to 1 or 2, they were way too loud on shallower targets. The problem is that the audio was weak on deeper targets, 10 inch and deeper dimes.
Since you mentioned the equinox the simplex headphones audio was louder on shallower targets but not as loud on deeper targets. When I say shallower targets I'm talking about different stuff in my yard. In my test garden all coins are 10 inches or deeper.

After I got my Simplex+, charged the batteries and paired the headphones, I was rather shocked to discover the volume was rather low. Also, I couldn't get a hit on a quarter doing an air test at over around 5 inches. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I had accidentally turned the sensitivity down to only one bar.

Lately on the newer machines coming out I have been turning the phones all the way up and using the detector to set the volume, basically treating the phones as if they are simply a speaker. Since the Simplex has only 4 levels of volume control tweaking the phones to get your desired volume level will probably be necessary.

9. To adjust the volume, use the volume setting of the detector.

Only by turning up the volume on the detector does it increase the volume on the headphones. The speaker volume on the detector is loud and clear but the wireless HP suffer with weak volume. Hope someone will try the waterproof headphones and give some feedback on how they perform.
