Six silver day...

That home-made unit looks like it would work pretty good. I'll have to try and make one sometime and see the results it has with a few of the black rosies I have. Thanks again.

It cleans them very quickly...just a couple of minutes. The coin will fizzle like and Alka Seltzer and the black just comes right off. I never tried the salt water. One of the things I found online (that's gone now) to make my setup said to use baking soda and that's what I did. Never did salt water, lemon juice, anything else. But it would be hard to imagine them working any better.

Nice to see you still finding the loot, I haven,t hit a park or field like that in a long time .Too many hunters in mass.I willgo back to some old sites now i have ex2.thanks for the reply.

Are you sure of that, because it looks to me that the mint mark is on the front of the coin on the right hand side below In God We Trust. This year had the mint mark on the obverse instead of the reverse and all the others had. 1917 had both varieties for the mint marks. Hope that is a mint mark and you just didn't realize it.

n/t

first, didn't know it was even on the obverse side, and sure is a mint mark, but can't tell if its an "S" or a "D"...going to have to try to clean it! Thanks!

I've talked to a few people that pulled a ton of silver from there 15 years ago, but don't feel the need now, already been cleaned out they say, I've got no problem with that, told them I'd found a few wheaties there...they want to know more, they can bring a detector themselves and find stuff!

Great finds! Keep it up! After you roll a strike at the bowling alley, spend a hundred bucks at a professional game, spend $50.00 going to the movies etc., what do you have?

Spend a few hours metal detecting and you could very well get rewarded with a nice prize. You get exercise and breath fresh air. It's a mind game, because where ever you go you must try and figure out where people have not detected before, and with what equipment.

This game is fun and profitable. The better you get at it, the more you're going to dig up... Remember, moist ground = better finds...

I look around and I see sights, not fields, I see grids, not front yards. It can be expensive, but get a season ticket to a pro game and see what you spend, get a Minelab and see what you find!
