Detected another old park close to home and I have only seen one other detectorist beside myself here so the chances of finding something good is very high. I have detected with larger coils in the past here which covered lots of real estate, went deep and found rings and tons of coins in the past, but the bigger coils were hard to pinpoint.
I decided to change to a smaller Excellerator coil and was really surprised (again)!!! at how....1. It separated targets and 2. It picked out the smallest targets that were there which included a silver star piece of jewellery (not pictured) and the usual load of coins.
Getting a solid 13 TID, I dug this ring up and thought it was a gold and diamond ring. I did not have my eye glasses or loupe on me so I had to wait till I got back to the van. Of course, I was disappointed to find out it was a cheapo ring but I was still excited that I finally switched to the smaller coil and how it performed today. I'll hit it hard tomorrow WITH THE SMALLER COIL THIS TIME!!!
