Slam-kinda and going over 1000 coins for year

Got out for 2 hours on Monday and went to an old home converted to a college dorm in a town nearby. College was founded in early 1800's. Got permission to detect and started. I had up to this time 995 coins found for the year and was looking forward to hitting 1,000. My first coin was a wheat cent. Coin 997 was a 1945 Mercury so I was getting excited. 998 was another wheat. The next signal was that nice warble and coin 999 was my first SEATED dime in a long time dated 1861!! :goodnight: Problem was there was a few holes in the dime. So now I was really excited and hoping for the slam. Next signal was a few inches away and was a signal I could not recognize; but dug since seated dime was close by. Well coin 1,000 was my first ever "fatty" 1861 with a hole in it as well. Someone had ruined 2 beautiful coins by putting holes in them and wearing them. Found a few more pennies and got this high warble and new if a coin was a quarter or better; but was showing 3 inches so thought probably clad. Well digging in I saw large silver and was excited to find my first barber half; 1906d, in a long time as well!!! I was hoping for a dime slam but will take the half though!! A few feet from there another silver signal; this was a 1952 Roosie; so now have 3 dimes toward the slam. It started raining soon and I had to call it a day with not completing the dime slam

Here are the pictures of the silver:

:usaflag:Very nice finds...holes or not. Were you using an explorer or another model?

I am using an Explorer II bought in January of 2006. I have a total of 59 silver coins for the year. This is a great silver machine as we know!!!

Great finds and congratulations on getting #1,000. I don't mind finding coins with holes - just adds to the history. HH
