Slim pickings at the 1700's farm site

These pictures represent the "cream of the crop" in 6 or so hours I spent on my first day at a 1700's farm house. I pretty much went around the house and got mostly trash and more modern stuff. I was using my 10X12 SEF and I think I should go back with the 6X8 or even my 4.7X7 as I am sure there has to be better stuff there. Any advice? It's a horse farm now with large open fields. Some old 1920' aerial photos I've idetified where an old barn was, and also a bunch of chicken coops. The odd thing is the grass immeadiately surrounding the house is very deep dark soil. Once you get to the farm part, the grass is maybe 1" deep and then you hit hard gravel. I'm wondering if top soil was brought in around the house. Any advice on the best way to hunt this place would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any idea what that rectangular clamp looking thing is. It has some sort of wood or cork in it.

Need to post one more pic in a reply to this thread, see below!
