Slim pickin's at the beach but managed a gold...

I do believe I found what might have been the only piece of gold that was sitting on the entire beach this morning :mder:
Got to the beach just before sunrise; just a little more than 2 hours before dead low. Walked for a bit to get to another part of the beach and then detected. I hit a patch of 3 or so coins and got another signal (all within the first 10 minutes or so). For the heck of it, I checked what it might be with the CZ 21's discrim knob (something I NEVER do since I dig everything but iron). This target hit like a penny but I dug it. I was shocked to pull this 2.7 dwt pinky ring with 5 (very nice looking) diamonds. While I've had nickels hit with a high tone (because they've been tossed in the surf for so long), I don't recall ever hearing gold hit high???

Mike / Steve: Ever have this happen?

Anyway, after that, the beach was basically bare (except for a few coins). No one I spoke with had hit any gold (or anything else for that matter) so I'm very grateful for the one I got! :)

I took this panorama shot last week... It' really a beautiful (clean) beach. I sure do get to walk a lot!

Nice ring buddy. I will say that the CZ-21 seems to beep a little different than the CZ-20. Some caps hit high and low, some tans do too. So I don't doubt that it hit that high. Check it on your Explorer to see what it sounds like. Maybe it is one of Steve's fakes?? Steve finds many that are marked as gold but are fake. Another thing, Gold can hit all over the board. I have a friend who has a white gold wedding ring with some small diamonds and is partiall hollow. It hits as a 2 on the Explorer. Mine on the other hand is a size 12.5 yellow gold band and hits as a 23 on the Explorer.

Don't believe this one's a dud but I was going to check it out on the Exp II... I'll let you know. As far as the tone is concerned, I just don't have THAT much experience with the CZ21 (since I almost always used the Exp II at the beach). Now that I have the 21 with the 10.5" coil, I wouldn't use anything else. I love it :)

Come to think of it, I have hit some gold with the Exp II that gave me "penny-like" numbers...

Thanks!

Nice ring! Thanks for sharing

it would id as a coin if it is higher kt.....18, 22. or it has a high copper content. what kt is it??

What a beauty it is Joe ! My detector just beeps loud , medium or soft - usually due to the depth of the item. But tinfoil will give the same sound as gold on my Fisher and thinner gold chains will give a slight sound. I just dig most signals & hope, Steve in so az

I love my CZ also. Many of my friends have gone to the Excal. Last year I got a great deal on a lightly used CZ-20 to be a back up to my CZ-21.

Congrats Joe on the nice ring and to me it looks like real gold with diamonds, but I like to believe that it is so and I hope it is the real thing, for to me it is a beauty! Nice pic of the beach, also! Do you remember the pic and poem I sent you concerning your beach hunting?? It has been quite a while since I composed it and sent it to you hasn't it? Ma is slowing down and I haven't done very much composing or printing poems with the pics to go with them, but I told Mike in Mi and one of his club members who hasn't posted on here for some time that I would send them pics with poems! Oh, what a shame to be soooo lazy like I am these days!!!!   Ma Betty

Hmmmm .... I seem to recall that a whole packet of poems / pics arrived in my mailbox one day and there have been lots of poems posted on CMD. :)

I know what you mean about "lazy" LOL For me it's, "the older I am the behinder I get"

Congratulations Joe! Awesome Find! My Minelab would have given me numbers in the mid 30's to 40' for a target like that.

It appears that it was sized right across the hallmark... all that's left is part of the "K". For the life of me, I can't find my loop and I'm blind as a bat :)

Glad you still remembered the poem of the beach scene! As far as getting older and the more behinder we get, I am so far behind that I think I am in front again! I believe they could resize without going over the gold Karet content which would make it easier to sell to someone else unless a fake and the K was stamped to fool people, but sure hope not! May God bless you to go :detecting: and go get more gold! Amen! Ma Betty

HI Joe, I still have the CD that you sent me of you singing and playing Christian music! I hadn't played it for awhile and almost forgot about it, but I appreciate everything I receive and you along with my brothers and sisters have really blessed me! Ma Betty

well, i cant even tell if thats a k or not!!:surrender: i would say its 18 kt or higher since it ids as a coin every detector i have ever used will id high kt gold as a coin. lots of people do not realize this or that the amount of gold rings out there to be found that will id as foil is 75% or higher.
dig only foil you might miss a rolex or a high kt ring.:surrender: very good looking ring!!!!!!!!!!!!!
