Slipped in and old park hunt this morning.:fisher:

Haven't been doing much hunting this past week. Temps have been in the low 80's at 6a and ground has gotten dry. Woke up this morning and it was 68, and I thought, dry ground or not, am going to do a little digging. Parks are in deplorable condition in certain areas as MAYBE being mowed twice a month and not sure about twice and a lot of trash strewn around. Anyway, hit an old city park and did manage a dinged up 51 Rosie, nice 62 Washington, small sterling ring with red glass I suspect, and a jewelry type piece that says best of times. Probably a scholastic item. The honker, junk g f ring I got last Mon while hunting there with one of my buddies. 5" coil on the LTD and running 4 disc, sen 80 and 3h tones.

Nice finds, Jim! Sorry to hear about the diggin' conditions, Not only hard to dig a plug, but the plug falls apart in to dust!

How do you like that 5" sniper coil? I'm thinking of getting one for my F5...after it comes back from the shop. My 11DD coil wasn't sealed well and ended up getting water in it, so they make me send the F5 box back with it. ugh.

With such infrequent mowing, the thicker and tall grass helps keep the ground from drying out, but conditions are getting a little tough. I have had the 5" coil on since the winter relic hunting season ended and I took the 11" off. Fisher and Tek 5" coils are like a laser and if one hunts in trash they are a must, in my opinion. Yeah, they like the detector to come back with the problem coil. Probably alright as I think they check the detector out too. Thanks, and hope you are digging a few goodies. HH jim tn

In the 80's before sunup...man...well, glad you got a cool morning today and that's some nice hunting there regardless of the conditions...:clapping: I see that dime is bent, do you hammer them flat or leave them as is? I've been hammering bent clad flat and sometimes doing a little file work on them to get them past the Coinstar.

As always, nice finds. CCH

Mud, I don't do anything with lawn mower dinged silver coins. Bent silver rings, I do straighten them out. I don't use coin star, I clean and roll them myself and do straighten out the bent and dinged one so the rolls are pretty uniform. Did a little digging at the old housing site this morning and looks like I will have to trade my detector for fishing poles. Digging is tough. We need some of you eastern guys rain. Have another Mn trip coming up next month. The area we go has had a wonderful summer it appears. Looking forward to a little water hunting. Thanks guys, and you all take care. HH jim tn

Jim, way to go on the silver.

It's has been so hot and dry that I've taken a hiatus from detecting.

Today's cooler weather was a opening to get some detecting in, but I felt like crap early this morning and didn't go.

Tomorrow looks like another good day.:)
