Small coil for Sovereign GT

New member
I have just bought this detector with the 10" Tornado coil, I want to get a smaller one, I have looked at the Web to see what is around, the only one seems to be the 5" Excelerator II, anybody with any comments on this one or suggest anything else? Also I am just getting familiar with the unit, it seems to get better depth in the Disc mode than the All metal, the manual states otherwise. Any help appreciated

Hey Hobo: Here is a link for the Sun ray coils. I had better luck with them, vice the Eccelerator coils. I don't know where you live, you can find a dealer and there are dealers on this forum that sell them. Good luck

I used the Tornado 800 coil and really thought it worked great.Great target separation and good depth. With this coil the sensitivity can run higher a faster sweep speed much better for a first time Sovereign user.

The 8 inch coil would be the one I would want if i wanted something smaller then the 10 inch Tornado coil even though the 10 inch Tornado coil is a great coil and better than any of the other Minelab 10 inch coil. I never tried the 8 inch Tornado coil myself, but I am sure it would be good also like the Sun Ray S8 or the older Sovereign coinsearch coil. The 5 inch coils are good too, but for real trashy area as the depth is OK, but not like the 8 inch coils are, I use a 5 inch on my Explorer SE , but on the Sovereigns I find I can do just fine with my S8 or the 8 inch coinsearch coil and feel the 8 inch Tornado coil would be very good too and better then the older BBS 8 coil.
