small coils for the idxcel

Hey guys
The grass is growing, and the sun still shines.....
has anybody heard anything on the topic of smaller
coils for the idxcel????
The idx is such a splendid machine, but to excel in
tigth spots the 8"coil is way too clumsy and heavy.
A 5or6"dd or oval concentric will make a supertool
of this little buddy.
happy hunting to you all

Always wondered about that myself. Certainly don't have the technical knowledge, but perhaps just can't fit the innards into a small coil.Excel and Coinstrike just handle trash quite well and feel Fisher doesn't see the need for one, however surely those small coils go where others can't. A call to Fisher might be in order to further qualify...

I'm with you trev.I've been spouting about a year or so for a DD coil on Fisher detectors but Nasa Tom stated that he couldn't get one to work on a CZ.I'm not familiar with the ExCel or Coinstrike but am wondering about the possible inclusion of a DD coil for them or perhaps the X series.A lot of us are forced to hunt trashy parks and public schools to sustain our urge to detect and as good as my 1236 is at target separation and recovery speed with the 5" coil, my Musky with a 7.25 DD coil is as quick on recovery speed and target separation is better even with a larger coil.I'm not espousing the Musky but if Fisher could match that and have a VDI meter like the Ex Cel for us trash hunters what a killer machine they would have in my real humble opinion, but what do i know and just wonder what i'm missing without digging 500 pulltabs per 100 sq ft <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> HH Bill
