small flat button today and some stuff - the patch

Jr and I sail back to the woods /patch today.

Took like 3 hours to find the only button and Jr was beginning to give me the mumbles, but Jr did swing over one button today
 
That second word could be "LANYARD".
I believe I have seen that word on some old buttons.
Is that some gold gilt showing on the surface?
