I left the Etrac in the trunk and grabbed the Ex 2 with 6x8 sef. Hunted hard and slow outside the kiddie play area, in an older small, wooded park. The trashy area gave up a couple IH's, the soil kinder to one than the other...the coins were 5-6" deep, and there was no mistaking the tones, no guess work.
I dug the old merc last week at different park.

Like you...I go back and forth between my E-Trac and Explorers.

The sounds are different enough that you can usually find something you missed with each machine.:thumbup:
