Snow Clad...and a ring!

Well, we still have 3-4 inches of snow on the ground, wind outta the north, cold wet and miserable, it rained all night...but I couldn't take it anymore! I hit a soccer field, and luckily the ground was thawed underneath the snow...A target rich environment getting 9.80 in clad and a 925 silver ring with a pink stone in it.. used the screwdriver on them all, I'm amazed that this F70 picks up the signals when its 4" above the ground, and the coins are running surface to 4"deep... disc 15, sens 75, 3H tones, -3 thresh, DE mode, I put a plastic bag over the coil so it wouldnt fill up with wet snow and slow me down...Let me tell you other brothers up North...it was freaking great!!
on my way out I noticed the gate to the football stadium, which is ALWAYS locked, was WIDE open for them to push the snow through...so I'll hit that tomorrow am, HARD!

Cool -- I grew up in Western PA and still love it up there, but thinking about detecting in the snow on March 5 reminds me that, as much as I love winter and snow, winters are awfully long up there!

Keep posting your finds. The more I use my F70, the more remarkable of a machine it is. Have you ever tried yours in SLOW mode? I plan to do this more; have heard it was somewhat of a "precursor" to the "boost" process added to the F70/T2 SE and LTD machines; when the lack of EMI permits using this mode, I plan to...it's already a pretty insanely-deep machine, IMO, ESPECIALLY for its price; slow mode might push it even more into the "insane" category!

WTG mudpuppy:thumbup:I scratched a few clad coins myself, nothing to brag about, weather got miserable, rain mixid with snow.Still ran into some frozen ground. Nice ring....hh rick in mi.

And hardpack snow, still I managed to kick through it to the ground and pulled another 5.42 in clad..This F70 is popping coins through a lot of snow! I found some old bleachers back in the woods and it looks like the kids go there to hang out, the snow was a good 7" but that F70 was still reading coins. Looks like this week will eat up all the snow, and then, by Gum, we will be in bidness!

mudpuppy -- finding $5.42 through seven inches of hard-packed snow and 19 degrees? Number one, you are one tough customer; number two, you are shaming me! :) . I'm not sure I EVER found $5.42 on a hunt, PERIOD, let alone through the snow and 19 degrees!

NICE JOB!

I dont know what I'm doing, but that may be a plus...I set some pretty high goals, like 10 bucks per trip, and the farthur I drive, the harder I work it...I'll smoke jump from one likely spot to the next, I did work somewhat of a grid today, on account of the snow helped keep the lines straight..but then got bored and just went where I wanted...seems the quicker a guy can get on target, and pop it, the quicker and more a fellow finds..so this was my mornings 3 hours, and I've got what, @15bucks and that ring outta that place in two days...maybe 3 miles from the house...lotsa zinc penny (class ring) signals there still, and I did find some more quarters that were frozen in, but made a note to go back and get them when I need a few quarters.. and I still havn't got on the football field.
