Snow disappearing :clapping:

Our snow has finally melted off enough in most places to start doing a little swinging again. Wasn't sure what some of my hunting spots looked like snow wise, so put the 5" DD on the LTD in case I was limited to hunting around trees. I knew the snow would be gone for sure on these spots and opted for the 5" coil as under the trees on the site I was going to is loaded with trash. Started out about 8 o'clock and it was an invigorating 18 degrees. Besides a few pre-82 Memorial cents and a few pieces of clad, got a badly corroded foreign coin, which is now in olive oil, and a well worn wheat cent. I can't quite tell for sure, but it does look like a 1911, either d or s. I am just not sure of the last number of the date and what the mint mark is. And, it is doubtful I will ever know. Anyway, we have a gradual warming trend going and will be in the low 50's on Sat., so conditions are finally getting back normal. HH jim tn

Temps. were close to 30 when I started out this this morning about 8a. No silver again, but did manage 5 wheats, some Memorial cents and clad and 2 junk rings. I did have a first, though, if my old memory is serving me right. I dug 4 nickels in one hole. 2 of them were stuck together and the other 2 were a little spread out in the clod. They were 4-5" deep and not all that bouncy. Vid moved from 29-32, with mostly 30-32 readings. Also dug another nickel reading that was showing a 9-10" depth. I dug a pretty deep clod and waved the coil over it and got a mid tone in the clod and then a high tone over the hole. In the clod was a piece of can slaw so I went after the high tone. From a depth of about 7" I recovered a wheat cent. I had the 5" coil on, 4 disc., sen. of 75 and 3h tones. In that setup, the LTD smacked the wheat cent pretty hard. HH jim tn

Never in my life did I think I would get such a bang out of finding a penny,I love weaties,4 months with my ltd found me 31 of them, oldest 1909,sounds wierd dont it?? haha..Jim tn that 4 disc. is interesting,I run mine pretty much all the time in 6 disc.,but thats with the 11 inch. This year I am going to try to run the 5 inch more often,my problem with 5 is i'm to picky and try to cover every inch of ground and it wears me out quicker than the 11....hh rick in mi.

we had a freezing drizzle after 6" of snow and it has looked like frosting on the ground for a week... or like someone poured cement all over the ground then varnished it... it will blind you if the sun is right. I'm ready for it to be GONE!!!

You had it worse over your way then we did right here. The heavier snow fall was south of Memphis. :) I know what 2-3" of snow does for driving here. Atlanta would have to be like a "wreck em derby." HH jim tn

School was out here all week and I stayed home. Guy who works for me went to Atlanta Friday, fell three times at someone's home, almost slid his (my) truck into a car... made it back home. I told him to stay home until tomorrow... it has been crazy. Southern exposure is melted away, northern is still white... maybe tomorrow... I think the roads are ok now but some yards and draveways may still be bad. Looking out the back window, the wooded hill is still solid white now. I hope we don't get anything else like this... not this year. Some schools wanted to start to make up lost days tomorrow but they were accused of being racist... so one more day out of school.
