So today was my first outing with V4. I rebuilt my normal program with 6.5 discrim and -1 silencer 8 kHz. The only change was I messed around with the XY screen. Well the XY leaves a lot to be desired. What it tells you is maybe good maybe bad. Plain and simple fact is you just don't know what's under the coil and neither does it. Although I put a full day with XY in by the end I was back to ignore the screen listen to the tones and size of target and let the shovel decide which side of the pouch to put the finds in. I will stick with it as one day isn't a fair try. I did mess with the discrim while over what I thought were good targets and saw no difference in how they "hit" between 6.5 positive and negative numbers. My settings seemed to work just as they have before. I will say that nothing good was super deep today. The British copper was 4-5 and the CT Copper was 6-7. Will keep testing. I have ordered the pinpointer but only because one of my Garret's just died again. Since there's no gold here to hunt and beaches don't interest me I won't be buying a coil. I very rarely hunt in 18 so a coil that will only go to 15 is of no use to me.

Thanks for the V 4.0 report and congrats on the great finds !

Nice finds Todd! I'm still waiting to upgrade. I would like to see some feedback on the negative disc settings when working in bad ground.

I don't see any use for the negative Disc for us. If we were in a place that had ancient Ceramic Pottery shards That would help you zero in on inhabited spots then OK or some sort of gold flake that combined with HF coil you could find things then maybe. But the way all info that's out there from XP reads I don't see how it can help you find more coins or relics in the USA. I have stood in a room with a live feed with Alain talking about discrimination and he says he never hunts without it. So now the discrim can go down below zero. How does that possibly help anyone find more coppers and shoe buckles.

Reactivity 2.5 great ok but I hardly ever go above 2 anyway but ok

Improved Tracking ground balance ok very good

Faster button response ok but wasn't a problem

Better identification of iron targets ok VG but I sure didn't notice

Pinpointer looks great will own one

V4 is an update for the gold searching market out there in the world not much for the coin and relic world. Gold market is where the money is. I get it.

Please note this isn't an anti XP post I love my Deus

I'm hoping that someone out there finds this way cool way that V4 with negative Disc can work for us and then I'm in Too.

try the #9Hot program in V4.0 it is chatty but i don't get the iron wrap around high squeak so it seems smoother and anything higher in tone from that base sound stands right out.

Good report of your results and coming from someone that hunts as often as you do and tests varies settings to see what works best, it carries a lot of weight.

Sometimes reports from one person become gospel and areadopted without seeing if they really help you find more / detect deeper / separate targets . . . . without comparing settings on in-ground targets, trying different settings is like trying a new detector each time you go out . . and they becomes ones that you never really master for your area and your type of targets.
