So has anyone purchased a Deus yet.

I know that there is some problem with FCC regs in the U.S., but in Canada there doesn't seem to be a problem importing them.

Two persons in my club (wf4.nl) including myself have bought a Deus. We have had quite a bit of success with it, and do like it very much. We first tested it in England last fall, were there for two weeks, 9 to 5 every day searching, never had any problems. With more than one Deus you do have to change the frequencies or you will bother a other searcher.

Its not only lightweight, but folds up to a small package; when I search here in Holland I put it in my backpack when I go on my bike to search, then my shovel is the longest thing.

Being lightweight, and wireless its easy to use, it was a funny coincidence that BOTH the other member and myself had damaged our right arms (he with a tennis arm, I fell hard on mine while searching in a hard clay ditch) and needed something light and easy to use. We normally have for a number of years used our XP GMP, which is our standard search machine for years now. With the GMP we both wear the unit on our belt, so its not so heavy and does not wear you out having only the coil and stem in your hand. But the wires do get in the way sometimes, especially when your are digging a find on the side of a hill.

Since we search EVERY day from 9 to 5 (or later if we have a hot spot) and that for two weeks (sometimes 3 weeks) our arms could fall off if we are not careful, we are not young guys anymore.

For all of those problems (weight, arms, wires) the Deus was our machine. We even made a wire loop system for our shovels, because carrying it in our right arms was tiring and sore at times. The wire look we attached to our belts, and with another wire loop on the shovel it just stayed on the belt and funny enough was not even in the way, until we had to use it.

Anyway, that's about using it. Compared to our GMP the Deus performed just as good, if not better. The discrimination is very good, the sounds also from the headphones are clear an sharp. I have searched so long with a detector without a meter because I just have used my ears to find fantastic finds over the years, I think its about 15 years ago when I trading in my Whites XP for a Lobo, which I had three of and used all the time, great machine. Now with the good discrimination from the Deus, and the meter on the remote unit I missed much trash.

About the depth, I can not say much, I think its about the same as the GMP, which is pretty good. Deeper than the Lobo in any case. I do like the Deus, have even thought about trading in my GMP for another (as a reserve machine, which I always have with me), did not have to pay much extra then, but still did not do that. Reason being is my GMP with its huge coils, that works just fine for deep objects. Will use that again after searching a field with the Deus, finding nice stuff, and then later with my big coil on the GMP to see what I have missed in depth.

Well if you have more questions, let me know.

I forgot to say about the Deus, one thing I have enjoyed with it is that you can adjust the length of the stem in an instant, just pull the lever open, slide the stem to the desired length, and close the lever again. A much much much better system than the small little silver colored points that you have to push in - sometimes with some detectors very hard - after you have loosened up the stem ring, and then adjust and close the stem ring. This is easy. I generally search here in Holland not so much on the open fields but on sites where removed earth is stored in piles, so you are working sometimes where you need a long stem, and sometimes (on the side of the piles) a short stem. I always had problems with this, mostly because I wear gloves and they are mostly muddy and dirty, had to remove them first to adjust the stem (and they are always muddy, this is Holland). This was wonderful, change it a instant and not have to push those darn pins in and then try to align them again. Also, closing up the system after use, its so short it can be stored in the trunk of my car with no problem at all.

The DEUS is extremely expensive from what I learned about it. I do not have one but did some research on it. Why don't you post the cost of the DEUS in US dollars? Do you know if it is available in the US? Are you wolfenzie and EJS a dealer for Deus?

Deus is not made for the U.S. market and we do not have any dealers, distributors or support.

Nope! Not a dealer, just an avid detector who likes his toys. Just curious to know if anyone else out there has purchased one of these machines so we can compare notes, that's all.
I purchased mine from a dealer in Holland for about $1800.00 CDN. This is about more or less what you would pay (give or take) for a higher end machine in N.A.. When I bought it, it concerned me that it might get hung up at customs, but there weren't any problems and it was delivered in about two weeks. I don't remember what the shipping was, but it would have been less than $100.00.
I have had the machine now for about four months and am very happy with it. It has become my go to machine for wooded areas, because it has no chords to catch on the branches. I also have an E-Trac and a V3 and use these for other types of hunting, so the Deus is not totally an all-round detector, but it is so light and easy to use that I tend to use it at club hunts because I can swing it quickly and know that it's super fast recovery speed won't allow me to miss the good stuff. Hope this answers your questions.

It's not yet made for the U.S. market but I did email the owner of XP and he said they will make the necessary changes to allow it to be sold there. But this will probably not be anytime soon. The machine is constantly on back order here in Europe (I'm in Germany).

I'm thinking really hard of getting one and am looking at the V3i as well. I hear the V3i can emulate the Deus fairly well but am just a bit worried if that is true. From what a dealer told me guys are having problems getting the V3i to work well but I'm just so attracted to it's flexibility and depth capabilities, not to mention analysis tools. This dealer sold both and was a Whites guy and told me to get the Deus. Another dealer told me the Deus is much faster than the V3i - I'm not so sure about that. A part of me is still wondering about the V3i though. The Deus is more of a sound based machine but it is very flexible programability wise. You can of course lower the response speed and frequency to get more depth. A nice feature which I hope they integrate into the V3i is a usb connection. With the Deus you get updates for free. In January they will release for free a non motion ID capable mode (for both ferrous and non ferrous). This will go very very deep.

I have been checking the German, Italian, Austrian and Dutch message boards for information on the Deus and it's being received incredibly well. The only complaint is cost, honest truth. Terrible design imo having the electronics in the coil as that makes coils cost lots. The bigger coil will be 400 Euro plus. The depth is very very good. It has a slightly smaller coil than the E-trac but the depth is just about the same. From people I've spoken with that hunt with friends and check eahothers signals, the Deus and E-trac are about the same. The Deus might do better on smaller items though.

If I do get one I will post how things go. Currently I have an Omega 8000 and it does very good and gets great depth. I'll take the next detector I get to a very productive spot I've mostly cleaned with my Omega (down to 7" or so - I know there must be deeper coins there as it goes back hundreds of years).

I'm curious about anyone who has compared the Deus to the V3i (Like you Wolfenzie and maybe EJS has seen both in action...)

I live in San Francisco and I received one last Friday. I ordered it directly from the company, and am very pleased with their customer service thus far. You can view my unboxing video below and I plan to post further videos of it out in the field.

Cheers,
-Alex

Good unboxing video of the Xp deus. It is one of the best detectors around and make sure to let us know how well it works for you.
