....For 3 days, they had winter advisories on TV and radio,forecasting"6-16 inches of snow in the thumb";with blizzard conditions...Ended up with MAYBE 8 inches-Wind was goin, but in my years I have seen MUCH WORSE-All I would call this one is a mildly amusing challenge.....

I don't think it is so much how much we got but how little some counties take care of their roads.

Sunday M-55 had been plowed and so had Old 27 and the expressway (I-127) so it was pretty good going at least one lane on the expressway was open through Roscommon county. We hit Clare county and apparently the snow plows had not made it to the expressway yet. We got off at the Harrison exit then turned left to go up Old 27 to the church. No plows had made it up Old 27. We bulldozed our way and riding in tother people's tracks to get to the church...which was nicely plowed out.

I heard Clare county doesn't plow north of Farwell until the day after a good storm.

Sherry had to get Casey to work by noon Sunday and church hadn't ended yet at 11:30 so off Sherry and Casey went. They decided to go north on Old 27 back to Houghton Lake. Roads still not cleared and worse than they were coming up from the expressway to the church. They got to the Roscommon county line and the roads were clear. We have a great roads crew! Unfortunately, by this time they had so much snow packed in the wheels and wheel wells they couldn't go above 30 miles per hour because of the shimy caused by the packed snow underneath, etc. Casey was late for work.

Sherry returned down the expressway and it had not changed and neither did Old 27 from there back to the church.

Stay away from Clare county after any snowfall is all I can say.

It could have turned out much worse! Glad it didn't! :)
