Oh, the greedy Archaeologists and gov't want the goodies for themselves and it is better to leave them in the ground or under seas to let them deteriorate away rather than bringing them into the light for detectorists to have and keep! I know that rangers will chase people off but will do the detecting themselves! In other words, like BO, do as I say, and not as I do, who has not moved to the center but is telling exactly what he is and intends to do...if people have ears let them hear his intentions in the State of the Union Address of this ungodly person! May God have mercy upon us all! Amen! Ma Betty

Thanks DK, More people had better wake up to what is going on before it is too late like it was in Europe in the 30's and 40's! May God bless and have mercy upon us and help the deaf and blind to wake up to the real truth of Jesus Christ and not bow to BO and most of Congress! Amen! Ma Betty

My purpose, in posting this, was to encourage others to KNOW the law before heading out into the field to metal detect. Here in the Grand Rapids area, there's an inidvidual that has been using a big shovel to dig holes, in the city parks, and it may bring metal detecting in city parks to a halt! There are those of us who have asked the proper authorities BEFORE digging, which goes a long way w/ the local people caring for the parks.

So the whole point is this: KNOW THE LAW AND REQUEST PERMISSION BEFORE DIGGING!

For those of us, who obey the law, it would go well for the hobby to share this information with those new to the hobby. For every individual that obeys the law, there are five who don't! We need to get the word out folks.

Thanks Martin for posting the Michigan Laws for hunting cities, parks and etc. I know that we should know the rules and do unto others as they would do unto us....It is just that there are Archaeologists who are greedy and selfish enough to prevent anyone from detecting if they could do so! In the school area where I did a lot of hunting...most people were nice and would ask me questions and didn't mind my digging, but there were some who made remarks about digging in the ground when most dogs and ball-players made a bigger mess than I did...some folks are just down right jealous and don't want a person to have or find anything, so they need to meet Jesus and accept Him into their hearts! Amen

P.S. ONe time my friend, Ginny, and I were hunting down at Cape Girardeau in a park near the river and railroad tracks and I asked the Park Ranger if it would be okay for her and me to MD there and he said go ahead! Well while Ginny was digging for her beep, this lady came by and made a remark are you allowed to dig in the park or something to that order and she told her that we had permission from the ranger, so she went on Ginny said....I wasn't there when it happend, as we didn't always stay in the same place when detecting, but tried to stay within shouting distance. The young people used to walk down around the curve of the river by the railroad tracks and play in a hidden beach area....Ginny wanted to go there, but I have always been afraid of trains and if one came I probably couldn't outrun it, so I wouldn't go and I don't think she did either! Sometimes, we had better use some Common Sense!! I always filled my holes and took all the junk with me by carrying a trash bag on my belt and dump it in the trash barrel at the park or when I got home! Happy Hunting and obey the laws as best you can and keep our detecting areas open, although I most likely will not be :detecting: any more because of my really ill health! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
