Some advice please...

I've had my HH PI for about 6 weeks now. Have dug more trash and a lot more coins and rings. No problem there.
1. I set my tone setting from mid-range to high range and my sensitivity to where the background noise just disappears... Is this correct? I'm trying to look for the truly deep targets. Today, I set the sensitivity to where it sounded like a constant swarm of bees... Trying to search for deeper targets. Found a few. When I swing the detector it will null then give me signal... Is this correct?
I've been detecting for a couple of years, but this is the first PI that I've had. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

If you can.
Set threshold, (tune), so you <STRONG>just hear it</STRONG>.
Set Freq. to the higest pitch setting.
<STRONG>Slow down </STRONG>coil sweep, <STRONG>take your time</STRONG>.
By the sounds of what you explained, it's not set up correctly. Your saying Tone and Sensitivity but the Headhunter PI doesn't have controls marked like that. I think I know what your try to say, but not sure I'm correct.

That makes sense. Since there is one knob (bottom right) that sets frequency, I've been setting it at various levels, both high and low... I'll keep it on high and set the threshold as you stated.
Also, I've been reading about running my coil cable straight up the shaft and securing it tightly... Right now I've got it wrapped around the shaft. Will make that change today. Thanks Bill. Mike
