Some finds from the weekend hunt :biggrin:

I went to the B&G hunt in Farmville, Va. hunting around 900 acres on both sides of the High Bridge. It was hardcore hunting and managed to find a few goodies. Here's some of the finds and will post up the rest once I get them cleaned up. Thanks for looking and HH!!

and when the going got tough a lot of the people started wining about no relics being found. My new saying is" WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH THE NON-HARDCORE HUNTERS GO HOME!! " Out of around 100 people there were at least 4 plates ( YANKEE ), one nice USA( intertwined letters ) artillery rosette found, 2 Virginia buttons, one script button, a real nice lock plate, some big pennies and an assortment of other cool finds. I think I will do great at the next DIV hunt as I am the proud owner of the White's TDI which is a must for hunting that hot ground in Culpeper. I found a bunch of bullets at the last DIV not to mention 14 good Yankee buttons and other stuff. I've heard the upcoming hunt is supposed to be even better than the last.

.... if sold would fetch many, many 10's of thousands of dollars ...... one in particular I saw dug was a Mississippi state seal sword plate, came out of the ground caked in mud, nice patina, but not bent or damaged in any way, dang near perfect condition ..... I think someone at the hunt offered over $10,000 for it because it was so rare and in such great condition.

Not everyone is capable of dealing with such hot ground. Discrimination on any machine is useless in that area of Virginia .... if your machine beeps or threshold changes, dig it, regardless of what any screen info tells you about the target. Nails can sound like / read like silver coins, silver coins and lead bullets may not give you a good signal at all ..... walk 10 feet away and the ground might be a little better ... or perhaps worse.

Yep, some guys don't do well in that hot ground, others do quite well because they dig everything and they know their machine.
