hey folks. Well I've been damn busy playing daddy and working like a dog lately, so I haven't had much time to go detecting...or post. I managed to get out tonight and last night though for an hour at a time...here is my take.

1884 Large Cent
1917 Large Cent
1902 fishscale
1920 fishscale
1898 indian head
2 different navy buttons of some sort
1 sporting button with 2 game birds
1 Canadian military button
1 14th regiment british button (my second of these)
1 1917 dime
1 1902 barber dime
1 1854 seated half dime
1 large chunky mans ring
1 1897 unknown coin

Thanks for looking and enjoy the pics.

I hope to be back on a regular basis shortly.

Wess,
Some really great finds as usual! I love all the buttons you've been finding. Your unknown coin is a 3 pence coin from the country of South Africa. Z.A.R. stands for Zuid Afrikaansche Republic. The 3 pence coins were minted from 1892-1897 for that design. .925 Silver. South Africa was under British rule until 1961. Some British soldier must have been to South Africa and then been up your way. Really neat coin. Probably only worth about $4.00-$8.00.

Cheers!

Thanks very much. I really enjoy finding military relics...especially buttons. I find them to be fascinating. I've had a lot of luck and success thus far this year as far as buttons go. I'll be posting a photo soon of my collection of military buttons so far.

Thanks for the info on the coin. Very cool to imagine how it might have got here...and who brought it here. I read there was only 200,000 of these coins minted. Is that true, as it seems awfully low. I probably won't find another one of these babies...a keeper for sure!
