Some goodies from the river.

You never know where stuff might be. Found some stuff at the bottom of the 4 foot vertical bank along the river. Tide was low and river bottom was exposed 10 to 20 feet out from the bank. Lots of sandy soil and small stones gathered in some places, lots of red bricks, and some larger stones too. My first dig was a dropped musket ball about 2 inches down. Second dig, another dropped musket ball about 2-3 inches down in the sandy/stoney bottom. Third dig, a dropped 2 ringer old bullet. Then a King George colonial penny with just enough detail to ID it. Then a girls older silver ring. Plus lots of junk metal, everything was very shallow. I was shocked that the KG penny, musket balls and other lead stuff was not deeper in the sand. I walked only a few hundred feet at the bottom of the bank while the tide was low. Will go back soon and do more searching at low tide. British and American ships traveled this river during the Rev War. Was using the X-Terra with CoilTek 6", 3khz coil. I might go into the water with the CoinStrike when water is warmer. Jabbo

in this river, in waist deep water about 1/2 mile upstream, when I had my Fisher CX-20. Gave it to a local museum. Also back then, found two King George pennies in the dry sand/stony spots that accumulate in some places along the bank, about 1 mile farther upstream. I might spend more time at the river this year. FYI, copper coins I found in the river seem to have the same amount, or more, corrosion and pitting as when found on dry land, in my area. The two silver coins found in the river turned black but no corrosion at all. Jabbo
