Some GQ SS finds

I have been prospecting with the GQ SS for a little over a month now. After getting some tips from Reg the unit is working pretty well at the moment.
I have very good sensitivity on test nuggets from about .4 to .5 grams and up. As a reference I have been getting .22 shell casings at 7" in black sand....I can live with that.
Gold has been rather elusive lately so wish i could post some pics but....did get a nice specimen piece of copper ore yesterday. The copper was almost pure when brken open. There was no mineral obvious when theis softball size rock was found.....was sure there would be gold inside but a nice piece of copper ore will do too.
The size of the pure copper was about that of a .22 bullet..lead only. In one of the pics you can see the shiny copper off to the right...it was very difficult to get the sample to show.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the info. I'm sure the gold will come soon.
I got some shaft mounting brackets from Whites that are similar to the one you use. I am going to make up a unit with one. Also has the advantage that for shaft mount only, the coil cable can be shortened to reduce capacitance <img src="/metal/html/glasses.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":geek:">

Excellent...it is very nice mounted that way. Is there an advantage to shortening the cable...and if it reduces capacitance is there any additional trimming of the coil needed. I ask as I am going to shorten my cable as I never hipmount...but do not want to do so if it will cause any issues.
Oh...how are the 8" coils coming......sure need one <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Hi Eric,
,Have not got out with my new Goldquest SS yet but had noticed that the cable seemed on the short side,The same as the one that you made for me to run on my deepstar.
Now I see it was to help reduce capacitance <img src="/metal/html/oh.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":O">
Waiting for the next low tides will try out the Goldquest SS <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> on the 14th-15th June

Hi Eric,
By chance, do you have a part number or any specifics for the bracket? It doesn't show on their website and the local dealer had no idea when I asked them about it.
Thanks,
Reg

There on the way. A week or so, and they should be here. Just spoke to Eric about it. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
