Here are some of my recent finds with my Minelab Safari......More pics to come, all items were found within the past 2 months. The large cents and buttons were cleaned with household vinegar, followed by a VERY gentle cleansing with soapy water and a FINE toothbrush. They were then smothered with petroleum jelly and the pj subsequently removed with cotton balls. The 1802 Draped bust Largie has incredible fine detail and I was surprised to see it in such good condition for being in the ground all these years, same as the 1851.I have found a total of 5 large cents but these were the best. The US military button was found in the same hole as the 1851 Coronet head. The bayonet, from what i've been able to surmise is from a French Chareville musket, and is a model 1754,but it could also be a colonial copy made for the continental army as well.It was very deep, around 15 or so inches. Not sure how it ended up in my parents yard in Swanzey NH as there were no battles fought in the area, that i've ever known. There were however troop movements in the area as soldiers traveled from the Boston area to the Lake Champlain valley during the French and Indian war and later, the American Revolution. It's not in the best of condition, but i'm overwhelmed with joy at such a find! Thanks for reading and enjoy the pics!
