I really like the fob and the lighter.(The only 2 I recognize!)

In better shape than the one in the link too. Thanks for posting!
What does the type say on the lighter and the Oakland piece. I'm having trouble reading them...

Hey Royal,
Heres a description and a pic from the link below. Looks different than yours, but maybe the same idea. If nothing else, you'll find the link interesting: an archeology site of an old whaling station in S. Australia (1840's)
>>> Archaeological evidence provides information about other parts of the diet. Glass from at least 35 bottles were found at Adventure Bay and at least 38 bottles at Lagoon Bay. Some of these probably contained alcohol, particularly beer, gin, and rum. While this may seem like a large number of bottles, when divided by the 25-30 men who lived on the stations, and the period of at least 5 years to as much as 15 years that the stations were used, it is not so much. It works out to much less than a bottle per man per year.
The men probably drank more alcohol than that however. Many of the glass bottles would have been recycled, as they were themselves quite valuable at that time. Most of the alcohol was probably purchased and stored in wooden casks, and not in bottles at all. Kelly's account books show he purchased alcohol in bulk, in casks, and one of the artefacts at Adventure Bay was a brass spiggot used to tap the casks.<<<

the Oakland thingie, I think <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> , is off an old Oakland Motor Car, which as built here in Pontiac.
I have this junk scattered all over the house and will have to dig some more out.

One I dug two years ago.The one that you have pictured has a triangular shaft that was for a spigot key presumably (not exactly sure of that either). The object pictured in Royal's pic could be the part of a spigot if one is willing to accept that one could turn it by hand and it wouldn't leak to much when it was closed.Maybe it had a cork gasket or something like that?
