Took the safari to a super trashy church ball field. This is in an urban setting so it is loaded to the max with screw caps, pull tabs. I eliminated all targets except +37, +38 , +39. That worked perfect. Dug nine copper pennies and a 1942 Merc. The Merc. was down 3/4 on the depth scale. That sweet high tone is music to your ears.

Okie_Logic here, I only had about an hour or so on Sunday to quickly scan a local soccer field area this weekend.
I just worked the edges of the playing field using your settings and was amazed at what I found.
I dug up a few clad dimes, pennies, and quarters, an older match box car, and a small metal whistle.
I am using a Quattro MP that I have had for about 3 months and this trick really built some confidence in my swing.
When things warm up I am going to really get my test garden going and gradually open up my discrimination when
I can find some less trashy sites.
Thanks for the tip and for a quick and successful hunt!

Your welcome. Less disc and manual sensitivity means more deeper finds. Continued success.:clapping:

I'm glad to still hear some posts about the good old Quatro, which I still have. It's still a great detecor in my book. Sounds like your "running hard" on this, and goin' for the "gold" as they say. What I mean by that is, your being a little catuous not to run your sens to high at first, feelling things out, and also doing a smart thing by putting together a test garden. You know, I don't see this hobby or endevor, or whatever you want to call it any different than anything else. When you want to be better at it, you "gotta train for it"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good goin', and your headed for the gold, for sure!!!!!!!!! (Oh, boy, I may have over done this post with you Okie Logic), because you sound like a pretty experienced detectorist, but I still think we all need to practice, and constantly fine tune our stratagies!!!!!!!!! Marc

Thanks for the encouragement! I used to use a bounty hunter, a beep and dig entry level MD. Now, using the Quattro I am finding allot more of the goods. Going a little slower helps me to hone my skills and also make finds that many have past over. I am more fired up than ever for spring and cannot wait for the warmer weather. I bought my Quattro in the dead of winter and spending my weekends out in my snowsuit has been challenging. I don't let it stop me. I have parks, beaches, and old home lots to myself without any one to slow me down. Keep swinging!
