And how it would or would not be detected, interestingly enough, I found the ring in the picture this morning, along with the others (but they're silver so they don't count) <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">
The coiled ring was not crunched together, it came out of the sand that way, it was down about 10 inches in the wet sand, and gave a wide target response on the Deepstar, wider than I would have expected. So, coil springs can be detected <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> Admittedly this one is bigger than a pen spring, but I would imagine that electrically it looks similar to a piece of wire?
