Something wrong with GB knob

Not sure if this is normal.
Hunted a while this evening and decided to increase delay to max because I was in the heavy cinder areas of the site and see how the SL reacted, then switched to all metal and ground balanced. Never reached a good ground balance. Seems like when my GB knob reaches 3 it turns the GB off. No way to adjust below 3. Not sure if this is normal or not. Suggestions please

What do you mean, "turns the GB off"???? Does the knob come to a stop? If so, then the GB control may not be physically positioned correctly.

The GB and the delay interact and it might be you won't be able to GB at all settings of the delay. This is especially true in extreme cases or man made cases. In your situation where cinders were thrown around the ground conditions are man made.

When the ground balance knob reaches 3 it clicks off the ground balance. No settings below 3. Turn the know CW and it goes to 11, but CCW it clicks off at 3.

Mark,

I checked some detectors today and all of my SL series detector GB pots do the same, shut off at about 3. So, it appears to be normal. Only White's can answer just why it was done that way.

Sounds fantastic.
