Sometimes common sense escapes me...

On a Garrett website I asked what a 'reasonable' price would be for a used GTAx 1250 (the one I mentioned before that the other guy has loaned me). Mentioned a toss up between and ACE 250 and the 1250. I mentioned the 1250 was produced around 1999 so if it is over 10 years old and no longer made why are people trying to sell them - using original manufacturers price as a guideline?

The obvious eluded me. The reality check was this "Why would you want to buy a 10 year old detector when you could buy a new ACE 350 with a 2 year warranty for about the same price as buying that old machine?"

That made more sense. So looking into a new machine - or newer - when Garrett has its next NEW machine out in the fall...which means value of the others earlier models should drop. Guess I couldn't see the obvious because of sentimental attachments to the old 1250...of course then too I had an attachment to the old Garrett Master Hunter BFO with all the extras for my first real and new machine. Why go backwards - right?

God bless you and yours and thanks for the prayers.

Hope you are able to find and pay for the detector you want and need for :detecting: God will bless you and has already by putting the idea of a new one in your mind, so lean on and trust in Jesus more and more, for He loves you with an everlasting love and doesn't want His Children begging for bread! Amen! Ma Betty

As much as I admire the Ace 250, I probably wouldn't buy another one; even though it's priced right. I'd likely purchase the Fisher F2 or F4, as it's a great little machine and highly under rated for its capability. I simply like the numerical readout, the 'big' screen, the lite weight, and it's reputation to find the goodies. When I owned the Ace 250, I didn't find multiple programs that necessary.

The 350 seems to be a good one.
