I prayed God would hide from others what He had in store for us. We had several places we wanted to check on that we had seen on the internet but hadn't visited yet. we had what we thought was 'choice' locations and places that fit our other requirements. We only had the one day - as a family - to go view houses. Sherry, Casey and I, along with our Christian realtor, headed 'up north'. We prayed for a safe trip and one that would reveal to us the one God had for us.
We started out looking at a place that we thought was OUR #1 choice. Though it met some requirements - it just didn't appear to be the one we were hoping for it to be (again OUR choice). We visited a few others - even one that I had to just about knock people down to get out of as my sinuses suddenly caused me to sneeze and my sinuses to drain like open flood gates. Man, there was something in there that caused that - maybe mold spores or something. Felt better once I got some fresh air.
We were getting near the end of our list of places and still had no clear 'THIS IS IT' feeling. We also had my Mother-in-law and her live-in help (Paul) come look at some houses with us in the area they live in near Roscommon. Paul knows about fixing places up so we looked to him for advice.
Somehow - I don't remember how but we came across a place that I don't recall being on our list. Its a mobile home. Looked very nice inside, fenced yard, car and a half garage, fairly new looking roof, had the space we needed inside (3 bedroom, 1 bath, near the top of a hill that looks down from the road you can see the south shore of Houghton Lake. Everyone was VERY IMPRESSED. The price was in our range. For us - THIS WAS IT! The one God had hidden for us.
Hidden is key because later once we got home we found out that this is a place we had looked at on-line last fall and when we hadn't had an offer on our home here in Lansing, we forgot about it. We found a printed sheet about the place. The asking price then was $42,900.
The price now - $35,900! Praise God!
Usually and especially in the resort area of Houghton Lake, houses usually sell cheaper in the fall and the value goes up in the spring.
Why no one else scarfed up this place - which had been on the market for a year - God not only kept this 'hidden' for us but even kept the price down too!
Sherry will post a link here soon so you all can see pics we took of the place. She has them on the web somewhere but I don't know where they are.
Keeping in mind how much Satan hates God getting praise and that I was going to post the great news here, Sherry's computer made a nose dive.
Since Sherry will be starting her full time works answering phones on Monday for the pest control company, she needs her computer up and running. I am on it now and it still needs work. It was necessary to cannibalize my computer and another to get Sherry this far. So Satan - you dirty dog - it didn't work. God still gets His glory and you - well we all know what awaits you.
I'll ask Sherry to get that link up here so you all can see the beautiful place He had hidden away for us. And ya know every ohter house and even the ones we looked at before just cannot match near what this place has to offer. Thank you Father and thank you Jesus for this wonderful blessing.
This will also put us within about a half hour drive to Sherry's Mom's house and within an hour of my Dad's house. Plus Casey will get to finish up her last couple years in a real high school (she's home schooled now) and me - I get to go fishing and metal detecting :lol
God is Great - all the time - and He does Great things.
