Sound problems

I purchased a 505 about a month and a half ago. Everything has been doing good till about a week ago. I was hunting and I was covering a lot of ground and I hadn't had any beep in a really long time. Usually on the beach I'm hitting something every foot. So I start to watch my screen which I try not to do to listen for tone instead of number. Well I come across a signal and get a number but no sound. So I turn the adapter that my headphones are in and the sound comes back. I'm not sure it's the adapter headphones or my machine. If I don't use headphones it's fine. Any ideas what one you think it is?

I've had an adaptor that was bad before.
If you can, check out the headphones with something else. If they're OK, then the adaptor would be the next thing that I would suspect and replace.

I had the same thing happen on my 705 my batterys were getting low after awhile I replaced the batterys then my headphones started working again and never had the problem
again. It never did it before! maybe just a sneeze in the electronics.

I have a 705 gold and had the exact same issue Click here to see the thread. After a couple times out hunting with it doing this. I called Minelab and they were SUPER. I sent my machine in and had it back in a little over a week (if my memory serves me correct) I have NOT had the issue again. Now my buddy loosecannon had the same issue. He hit the side of teh machine with the palm of his hand and has not had an issue again either. Go figure.

It's the headphone jack on mine. New headphones soon-but-meanwhile----------I used epoxy over shrink wrap. Still if my connection swings forward-no sound. I turn up my threshold a few numbers-if it disapperars I move the jack. Works for now.

As a musician I know that the connection will eventually fail just from putting the connection in & out and the movement while MDing. My plan/suggestion (if I can't afford wireless) is to reinforce the headphone side before problems occur (shrink wrap & epoxy) AND see if I can rig a clip to prolong the eventual failure at the connection.

I've only had the 705 since January and the headphones came with the detector. I've done around 50 short trips. So it's kind of quick IMO.

Detected around 30 yrs. Whites w a metal connection (1/4") with a lot more frequent use and my headphone connection would go 3-5 yrs w/o problems.
