Sov GT hip mount

Tseeker

New member
I can not locate the post, but some time back there was a camera bag suggested as a good hip mount for the sov. I THINK it was Joe Patrick that used it but I am not getting any hits on the search feature.:look:

Hello Tseeker,

While this may not be the thread that you are looking for... it is one that I think makes an excellent alternative for a Sovewreign hip mount pouch:

It looks like the control unit is also contained in a separate clear-top housing of some sort. Where did you get that?

This is what I use with my GTs that have the Joe Patrick meter mod

I have foam under and around the box and the coil cable is secured to the belt so there is absolutely no strain on the connection (very important). Plenty of room to carry stuff too.

Good tips, I do not have a hip mount bag for my Musketeer Advantage yet so this information will come in handy because it has the same housing as the Sovereign GT, thank you.

plugger, do you lose the external speaker with the Joe Patrick meter mod.? (If so I suppose you go by headphones instead.)
Is it better than the Sovereign add-on Minelab meter.?

Souvereign Meter

Also there is a fellow who custom installs meters right inside Sovereign control boxes, in case someone did not know. If you enquire and look hard enough you can find his website if need be.

Anyone have a comparison between the Sovereign add-on Minelab meter vs the custom installed meter.??

Yes, you lose the internal speaker. I never used it anyways, always preferring to use my headphones. It is a very accurate meter, works great! I try to hip or chest mount all of my detectors (of course, they are mostly Minelab GTs or Excals).

Thank you plugger! I see.

But does anyone have a comparison between the Joe Patrick meter mod (vs)and the Sovereign add-on Minelab meter.??
