Sovereign GT How good are they in the field?

Just wanted to see how how the new GT's are working in the field. I'm thinking about getting one Monday.
Not much out about the in field performance other than the report I saw that Daivd did.

It's been almost a month since they became available I would have thought we would be seeing some field reports too. Hopefully someone will post something soon!!!! This is definitely not like on the Tesoro Forum. When a new Tesoro comes out there are field reports almost instantly over there. Luckily most of them must live in the south as they have been posting all finds all Winter long!!! Maybe more Sov users live in the Frozen North and are still dealing with frozen or snow covered ground!!! I am sure looking forward to reading what the end-users think of this new machine as I am trying to decide whether or not to get one. I ahve been holding off since most of the improvements have been made to the All Metal mode with teh exception of the Ironmask Switch and the Silent Search Switch and since I hunt in the Discriminate mode all these advances won't be of any benefit to me. But if they did make it more sensitive to gold in both the All Metal and Discriminate then I may give a try.

Probably the weather and ground conditions just starting to thaw in a lot of places are keeping field reports to a minimum.
I just got my Gt Sov and doing some testing and learning but be a while for any reasonable field experience with it.
Just now learned how to cut way down on senstivity to get those real nice tone changes and like I expected but could not get until now in a place where I had unexpected outside interference.
I believe I am really going to like this detector and the balance it is terrific with the straight pole and behind/under armrest setup. Bought a swingthing type harness in case but almost not needed. Unless I intend on a much longer then normal ( for me) outing. I'll mention this though. I was surprised to get the kind of depth in a spot I tried it .My cz got good depth but came in very much second at this particular place. Of course there was the cz 8 coil against the sov 10inch coil. Both in dscriminate modes. The all metal mode on the sov reaches way down there. Inches beyond the discm mode.
It is going to take me much more time to get real info. But so far in a short time I am looking forward to some outstanding performance from this detector

Something else.
I have the minelab Advantage with the propack.
the advantage battery pack , the hip mount shoulder carry bag works the same for the sov.
I can now have two charged battery packs and the alkaline battery pack along with the weather protection of the hip mount bag as it also mounts on the pole. Also the s pole is also interchangable if I wanted to . Or the straight pole for the Advantage.

What's your opinion on the Advantage??
Deep seeking or not..
How's the balance..
Thanks

I have a high opinion on the Advantage.
It gets deep targets , as deep and sometimes deeper then , mxt, cz, tejon, conquistador, nautilus4 , all detectors I have and compared side by side. But the signals can be soft and subtle on the very deep targets, it can be swung at any speed and still detects the same. it has excelent target separation, and it works good in iron, it has a very wide range in iron discrimination and a smaller range in higher metals discrimination but very effective also. for instance at the top of the discriminator adjustments is where the higher coins and metals can be set to discriminate I can cut off most zinc bottle caps and quite a lot of others that ring good on most all the other detectors mentioned. I does not loose much depth at the higher settings like the Tesoros I have used, do.
My opinion is based on having it for over 2yrs , it absolutely works in some ground around here that the others have a much much harder time in and don't get the depth or discrimination abilites they are noted for.with the propack I have a 10 inch coil battery charger and car charger all works well with my new gt sov. A lot for the decent price of this detector.
I think that covers my opinion of the Advantage

With the s rod and stock coil and control box mounted in front of the hande there is not much balance. the weight not to bad.
I have used it that way and sort of balance it like I do my other detectors with s rods or pistol handles .
But I have the shoulder, hip bag and I mostly use it so there is no problem with balance or weight.

Just mentioned as a complimenary detector for a sov as all its accessaries fit the sov.

Thanks for the reply...
I just picked up a Prizm V on Friday and really didn't have a chance to test it. But beleive me I will be doing so soon. The ground is still too wet and too hard. The Prizm may be one of the best machines going, but if I don't wave it I'll never know. But at the price they charge for the Advantatage it may be worth buying one as a second machine. It's nice to hear from someone that isn't from a magazine. They only write what the manufacture directs it to be.
The only report I seen on the
Advantatage was through Lost Treasures.
Again thanks for the reply...

The GT is selling very well. Evidently a lot of people like the new rig as well as I. I'm discovering how many optional modes I can run with the GT. Now you can detect in All Metal, check in Disc Silent mode, then recheck in Disc Threshold. Not necessary but an excellent way to get the most out of a correct decision to dig. Very sensitive. Hope to be well enough to return to the field over the weekend. Turkey season will just have to wait. I hear relics squealing to be dug David @ Dixie
