Spanish Coin

Does anyone know if this is an authentic Spanish Escudos doubloon? I found this with my X-Terra 705 while metal detecting an old Boy Scouts camp. I can not tell you how surprised I was to pull this out of the ground. Also due to limit of download space, I am not able to attach a picture of the other side of this coin, so frustrating. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Looks like its expanding from corrosion on the bottom....silver or gold will not do that.

When you say limited download space, what do you mean? I routinely download several pictures.

Oh, OK. I resize all my pics down to anywhere from 45k to 100k. That's why I can do several at a time.
I'll bet finding that coin got the 'ol pump going for a sec, didn't it?

Can not tell you how many times I've popped out gold that wasn't, or 1916 mercs that were missing that one little detail. Its all about the hunt, no matter what, its all good.
HH.

I couldn't agree more with your comment. I absolutely love this hobby and would be out detecting everyday if possible. I dread the thought that winter is coming and metal detecting will have to take a back seat for awhile.

Back in 1973 my father came home one day with a Compass detector. Just a straight stick with a coil on one end and a 3x4" box on the other. I think it cost about $50.
One day while he was at work I took it out to an old house by the RR tracks. I found a Franklin half, a couple of SLQs, a merc and a hand full of wheat cents.
I've never looked back except to remember what used to be.

I am still hoping to find my first silver coin. I have found a fair amount of clad and that spends; however, there is nothing more exciting that the thought of finding silver or gold with a detector. I had a metal detector when I was a kid and for some reason, I didn't stay with the hobby until about a year ago. Now,I am kicking myself for not metal detecting all those years. I am 53 and trust my health stay good for many years so I can continue to enjoy this hobby.
