Spring time in Michigan!....

Yep a weird warm spell here. Watched all the white stuff disappear yesterday, found out the ground was no longer frozen for the most part this morning. 55 degrees or higher and a lot of rain so I went digging for about an hour. Got a wheat, a neat aviation button, and a concertina reed. Also got 5 clad pennies, and some shotgun slugs. Gonna try again tomorrow. The cold will be back on Thursday.

Great finds for an hour Mike, Congrats!

I am ready for spring. Glad you could get out in the warm weather.

Hey Mike, What is a Concertina Reed? See...I told you spring was around the corner  I could feel it in my bones. Today their telling me it's going to storm like the dickens! I woke up this morning with every muscle in my body just screaming!

Ran into a little frost a couple inches down but only in the shaded areas. I could still push through it though as the frost was only about two inches thick.

A concertina reed is used inside a concertina which is a mini accordion. I have dozens of them from old sites. Do a google image search on concertina and you will see what they look like.

Wow! So much for Spring! We've got two inches of new snow this morning, after having rained all day yesterday & metlting all the snow we had previously. Looking outside, it doesn't appear that it's going to let up (snowing) anytime soon. Oh well...that's Michigan!

we had 3" this morning then the wife and I went to town and came home 3 hours later to 4" more!

Hey Mike, Good to be back on the forum again. I hope all is good with you and your family. Good job on the finds! Robert Taff

That "Wings and Propeller" look exactly like the insignia on my Army Aviation baseball cap,I flew Huey's for the Army in Viet Nam. It is possible that it could have been from an Officers dress uniform branch insignia from his lapel. It would take some research, but it could be from WW-II or earlier until the Air Force was broken away from the Army.

You can clearly see the propeller in the center of the wings on this pin Mike!
