I RATHER BE DIRTY

This is a good website for headstamps:

http://members.shaw.ca/cartridge-corner/shotgun.htm

If you got a dual drum tumbler, it must be a Lortone! I lost my barrels but a 2-quart Gatorade or Powerade container works OK for tumbling for a while. Not sure about the watch piece...

I have to start a disply of those shot gun shells they are about as close to a button or coin as one can get..and I know have mercy on square nails and keep them they are a pest but are part of the history

For headstamp info try this on...

http://www.headstamps.x10.mx/

I have a board that I setup and have about 50 different ones.
A fun target to find that tells the age of a site.

I pulled this information from your Elgin watch frame serial number off of Elgin Watch.org :

Search Results For "2350157"

Serial Number SN Range Quanty Name Year grade size code jewels Adj/reg/etc.
-------------- -------- ------ ---- ---- ----- ---- ------ ------ ------------
2350157 2350001 15000 1886 97 18s hfg1k 7j

Hope this helps.

Looks like the ID plate of the Elgin. I think I may have commented as to it being the balance regulator on another site but is not. More precise to be the ID plate. Most are brass on many pocket watches. Elgin's are very pricey depending. Nice find.
